Senior Accountant

Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing daily/weekly/monthly accounting tasks for Hinkley. The duties include general ledger reconciliations and preparing reports used by the management team. The Senior Accountant reports to the Corporate Controller.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

  •        Financial Reporting:   

    o   Perform account reconciliations for assets and liability GL accounts.

    o   Review and upload monthly Standard Journal Entries.

    o   Record Fixed Assets in SAGE and prepare monthly depreciation reports. Reconcile depreciation. reports to Net Suite accounts.

    o   Perform Monthly Bank reconciliation.

    o   Prepare/upload bi-weekly payroll entries.

    o   Prepare a monthly budget for actual analyses for various department heads.

    o   Assist in Month End Financial Reporting, Analysis.

    ·        Operations Oversight:

    o   Prepare Wire transfers for Asian vendors.

    o   Provide backup assistance to Accounts Payable for vouching of Container inventory.

    o   Assist in preparation of cash projections and budgets.

    ·        Prepare Daily dashboard reporting for all department heads.

    ·        Assist in Year-end Audits with outside Auditors.

  • Support and participate in other account/finance projects as needed.

Supervision Received   

  • Works under guidance and direction of the Corporate Controller.

Level and Type of Education Required   

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 4-6 years of Accounting Experience, experience in distribution or manufacturing a plus. 
  • Experience with ERP systems (Net Suite a plus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook. Excel skills intermediate or higher (Vlookups and Pivot tables).

Necessary Specialized Training, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities    

  • Displays vast knowledge of math and accounting. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Works closely with the accounting/finance team and other departments to identify a problem and resolve appropriately.
  • Requires strong attention to detail. i.e. Able to notice discrepancies, miscalculations, and items that need to be researched and understand the impact of these errors. 
  • Exhibits strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology.
  • Possesses exceptional organizational and time management skills. Must excel at multi-tasking.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Integrity, sense of responsibility, independent judgement required.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with multiple level staff members in various departments.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
